Adrenal Function Test

Low salivary cortisol levels are associated with various symptoms, such as insomnia, difficulty waking, fatigue, disturbed concentration, chronic allergies, multiple chemical sensitivities, depression, High salivary cortisol levels are associated with, decreased immunity, bone loss, anxiety, disturbed sleep. Exposure to chronic stress eventually leads to depletion of the cortisol resulting in fatigue symptoms. Additionally, it is important to assess the adrenal hormone ratio of cortisol to DHEA since an imbalance is associated with insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and difficulty losing weight. If there is excess cortisol over DHEA, this can result in accelerated aging and the breakdown of bone and muscle.
