What is the difference between Relaxation / Swedish massage and Deep Tissue / Therapeutic Massage? A Relaxation massage also known as Swedish massage is similar to spa-type massage. It comes with kneading techniques, and light to medium pressure during the session. Most often patients will go for one relaxation massage ones a month to maintain a healthy state of their body. Deep tissue or Therapeutic massages use more advanced techniques to help ease pain and address chronic health care issues. Patients who go for therapeutic massage typically have health-related symptoms that impact their daily lives. No symptoms can be 100% treated with only one therapeutic massage session. Patients are often asked to make a few frequent weekly massage wellness sessions and over time those treatments can be reduced as the patients are getting better.
How do I prepare for a massage wellness therapy appointment? We always recommend having full rested the night before your massage therapy appointment so you can be well relaxed and take full benefit of your massage session. It is always a good idea to drink full glass water or bring a bottle of water with you before your wellness session.
How many Massage Treatments will I need? For any pain relief, we always recommend 5 to 8 massage wellness sessions back to back every week. We have noticed great results when our patients keep up with their sessions. Once the pain has been relieved, it is always a great idea to continue one massage treatment once a month. This will help to keep the body pain free and relax the entire body.
How will I feel after My Massage Appointment? If this is your very first massage appointment, then you may feel a little sleepy or dizzy which is very normal. It is best to drink water after your appointment and let your massage therapist know if you don’t get any better after a few minutes.
How often should you get a massage? It is always a good idea to have massage therapy sessions once every week for the first 5 or more sessions and then gradually change it to bi-weekly. As your symptoms improve, then we will recommend continuing one massage session regularly once a month to maintain your body in a healthy state.
